A list of things that help my productivity

Here are some things I've noticed about my productivity in no particular order.

Also, I think most productivity can be boiled down to staying healthy, but maybe that's just me. Also I have ADHD so keep that in mind.

Good for productivity:

  • ✅ Strict sleep schedule (10pm – 6:30am)
  • ✅ Cold shower immediately after waking up (it always sucks but wakes me up immediately)
  • ✅ ADHD medication (Vyvanse)
  • ✅ Fruits & vegetables (probably a placebo, but that's fine)
  • ✅ Keeping my workspace relatively tidy
  • ✅ Face-to-face conversations with teammates (Zoom is only ~50% effective)
  • ✅ Working on interesting projects with people I admire & respect

Negative for productivity:

  • ❌ Alcohol
  • ❌ Dairy
  • ❌ Fast food (heavy dose of carbs = bad)
  • ❌ Loud sounds/music via external source (neighbours, etc)

No effect on productivity:

  • ➖ Any music that I play
  • ➖ Motivational speeches
  • ➖ White noise / brown noise / static
  • ➖ Productivity apps
  • ➖ Standing desk
  • ➖ Timers / Pomodoro Technique / etc
  • ➖ Calendar
  • ➖ Todo List
  • ➖ Drinking lots of water
  • ➖ Exercise
  • ➖ Caffeine
  • ➖ Money
  • ➖ Room temperature
  • ➖ Ambient lighting
  • ➖ Laptop vs. Desktop
  • ➖ Multiple monitors
  • ➖ Distractions / Phone / Notifications (if I'm zoned in, I don't notice these "distractions")
  • ➖ Supplements (I've tried them all)
