A list of things that help my productivity
Here are some things I've noticed about my productivity in no particular order.
Also, I think most productivity can be boiled down to staying healthy, but maybe that's just me. Also I have ADHD so keep that in mind.
Good for productivity:
- ✅ Strict sleep schedule (10pm – 6:30am)
- ✅ Cold shower immediately after waking up (it always sucks but wakes me up immediately)
- ✅ ADHD medication (Vyvanse)
- ✅ Fruits & vegetables (probably a placebo, but that's fine)
- ✅ Keeping my workspace relatively tidy
- ✅ Face-to-face conversations with teammates (Zoom is only ~50% effective)
- ✅ Working on interesting projects with people I admire & respect
Negative for productivity:
- ❌ Alcohol
- ❌ Dairy
- ❌ Fast food (heavy dose of carbs = bad)
- ❌ Loud sounds/music via external source (neighbours, etc)
No effect on productivity:
- ➖ Any music that I play
- ➖ Motivational speeches
- ➖ White noise / brown noise / static
- ➖ Productivity apps
- ➖ Standing desk
- ➖ Timers / Pomodoro Technique / etc
- ➖ Calendar
- ➖ Todo List
- ➖ Drinking lots of water
- ➖ Exercise
- ➖ Caffeine
- ➖ Money
- ➖ Room temperature
- ➖ Ambient lighting
- ➖ Laptop vs. Desktop
- ➖ Multiple monitors
- ➖ Distractions / Phone / Notifications (if I'm zoned in, I don't notice these "distractions")
- ➖ Supplements (I've tried them all)
